What is life coaching?
At its core, life coaching is about putting into action Jesus’ words in Matthew 28:19 — Therefore go and make disciples of all nations.
Life coaching then is the process of disciple making. In this journey, the focus is helping another discover who they are in Christ and ensure alignment of every area of their life with Jesus’ example and teaching.
We believe God’s Holy Spirit, in connection with Scripture, provides rich insight into how every person can grow increasingly purposeful, effective, satisfying lives. Lives that reflect the supernatural call of discipleship.
Our vision is that the outside perspective of a coach facilitates the Holy Spirit’s work of conviction and growth. A coach then helps enable the integration of these convictions across core areas of life, including: faith, family, health, friendships, work, service and other interests and pursuits. As God’s purpose for our life is to become more and more like Jesus, he gives each of us the ability to assess, align and take action with His call.
At OneThree12, the coaching experience is anchored in these beliefs:
It is about you
Coaching is not reciprocal and that’s by design! In your coaching relationship the focus is your growth. The platform, tools, attention and effort is singularly directed to ensure you have every opportunity to examine yourself, your relationship with Jesus and act on things that pertain to your unique call.
It is disciplined, repetitive and focused
In your coaching, every minute matters. Expect to get right to work. While coaching is highly relational, it is not superficial. Standard schedule is a thirty minute call every other week for a year. Accountability to discuss action steps is taken seriously. Calls begin after an onboarding experience that starts with a personal intake questionnaire, DISC (personal behavioral assessment) survey and a two-hour launch call.
It is flexible, but directed
It is critical that the Holy Spirit directs the course of coaching. Alignment with his inspiration is the basis of true discipleship. However, we find that commitment to a process of, clarifying questions, proactive action and clear coaching steps create a framework in which the Spirit can work. This moves coaching from being about good intentions and the hope of change, to real transformation.
It is safe and confidential
Your coach considers it a joy and privilege to walk with you, no matter what. Coaching is a safe, confidential place for you to journey through life, whether the day brings crisis or joy.
It is ongoing
No one officially “arrives” in their coaching journey. Everyone at OneThree12 is being coached and has experienced impact in their own lives. Sharpening and alignment are convictions to be embraced for life.
